An 1878 City Beside a 1980s Power Plant
Byron was founded in 1835 by settler Jared Sanford and incorporated as a city in 1878, more than a century before the Byron Nuclear Generating Station arrived on the same stretch of the Rock River, its two reactors coming online in 1985 and 1987.
Two Distinct Heating and Cooling Generations
The 1980s plant-construction era brought a wave of newer subdivisions to Byron's edges with more modern heating and cooling equipment, while the pre-1878-incorporation core downtown still carries much older systems. Winters cold enough to average January lows in the teens make a properly sized furnace essential in either generation of housing.
Before You Request an HVAC Quote
Mention whether your Byron home predates the 1980s nuclear-plant construction boom or was built during it, since the two waves of housing carry noticeably different original HVAC equipment.
